We are proud to announce that Club teen Zoe Parmer was chosen as a Jefferson Award finalist for Outstanding Service by a Young American! Zoe attended the Jefferson Award Gala on April 29th at the Queen Theater.
Zoe has been a leader in her community, our Boys & Girls Club and among her Keystone Club (teen leadership) peers. Zoe has volunteered countless hours in her community though various projects, including: Breakfast with Santa, Kohl’s Shopping Event for Orphans, Martin Luther King, Jr. Random Acts of Kindness, Justice in Time with the Police Department and a volunteer for our annual Cecil’s World Classic weekend fundraiser and teen event. Over the summer our Keystone Club volunteered and helped organize Greater Newark Boys & Girls Clubs first Annual Book Bag Drive. The book bag drive was able to serve over 150 kids with book bags and school supplies with the help of Zoe’s leadership. She helped to organize donations of book bags and food in order to make the event a true success. Zoe has also facilitated Botvin Life Skills Trainings, a life skills program taught to our Summer Fun Club campers. Through this program she taught about 50 youth the importance of decision making skills and drug and alcohol prevention. Zoe was able to learn more about drugs and alcohol and ways to teach these important points to younger members. Way to BE GREAT Zoe!
