THE GREATER NEWARK CLUB IS FULL OF ROCK STARS! – CLUB IMPACT



The Greater Newark Club is full of Rock Stars! The Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club is one of 44 Boys & Girls Clubs across the state, helping kids reach their potential through high quality programming and dedicated staff. 2019 has been a big year for this Club, in February it celebrated 25 years in the Newark community, and has won numerous awards and celebrated many accomplishment and we’re not even half way through the year.



In February, Stuart Sherman was named Staff of the Year, and just this month, Stu was promoted to Sr. Executive Director, Program Development. In his new role Stu will be Stuart will provide executive leadership and direction in assessment of program effectiveness, as it relates to program fun, impact, and appeal. Additionally, he will assist with developing strategic alliances, collaborations, financial and/or in-kind support for local Clubs and School Sites statewide.




In March of this year, Club staff, community members, Club kids and families and representatives from Wilmington University, surprised longtime Club kid turned Child Care Counselor, Charnaè Lusby with a 4-year, full Scholarship to Wilmington University.






The Greater Newark Club is also home to the 2019 Delaware Gatorade Player of the Year, Jyare Davis, who has been a Club kid since he was 5 years old and has played in ALL of the Clubs basketball leagues. The Greater Newark Club is also celebrating accomplishments in the area of volunteerism with Zoe Palmer selected as a Jefferson Awards finalist for Outstanding Service by a Young American.







To top it all off Ardavia Lee was named 2019 Delaware Youth of the Year and will be competing at the northeast regional event in June and hopefully moving on to the national stage.
