Meet Club Kid Mila

Meet current entrepreneur and future business mogul, Mila F! Mila has been with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware since 2022, and represented the Capital Region at the Jr. Youth of the Year competition this past spring. An outstanding Club kid and friend, she represents the very best of what our youth can be.

“Over the past year, Mila has assumed a leadership role within our Club. She has taken the initiative to work with her peers and teachers at the Club.” says Greater Dover Club Director Bobbi Mooers.

Mila is a kind and engaging member who enjoys Club activities including painting,  fun Fridays, and connecting with her friends. “My first day at the Club was really welcoming and active. Everyone was so nice!” she recalls. Now a sixth grader, she is ready to tackle the school year ahead with the support of her Club friends and mentors.

Already an entrepreneur, Mila has a thriving business called Grace, where she sells beauty products and bracelets. While she enjoys the success of Grace, Mila plans to expand its offerings and begin to provide hair care as well. “I want to be an esthetician, businesswoman and fashion designer when I grow up” she boasts. Her passion and determination not only make Mila a successful founder, but a pretty successful Club kid as well.

Selected by the Greater Dover Club as their Jr. Youth of the Year, Mila competed against six other finalists to represent the Capital Area at the statewide Jr. Youth of the Year competition. As a competitor, she created a posterboard that showcased her accomplishments and goals, and gave a speech that was shown to the Youth of the Year finalists who made the final vote. While Mila was not selected as the statewide Jr. Youth of the Year, she certainly doesn’t plan on letting that hold her back. “Just because you didn’t win doesn’t mean that you’re a bad choice” she says.

As a Club kid, Mila loves adventure and speaks highly of her Club trips to Killens Pond, White Water Mountain and the Baltimore Aquarium. It is on these trips that she was able to bond with other Club members, and spend her summer gaining new experiences.

“Her peers and teachers benefit greatly from her kindness, thoughtfulness, wisdom beyond her years, and unique perspective” says Mooers.

The mentors and programs offered at our more than 40 locations in Delaware work to help our youth realize their full potential. Mila is another great example of how extraordinary our youth can be, and we are very thankful to have her as part of our Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware family!
