Meet Kymora, she is 13 years old. She was born and raised in Wilmington and has been attending the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware since she was 7. Her favorite food is macaroni and cheese and she loves helping her family in the kitchen. When Kymora is not busy making A’s in middle school, you can find her involved in almost everything her Boys & Girls Club has to offer. She is one of the founding members of the Club’s new dance team the Lady Rebels, she participates in the Club’s culinary program and attends every single field trip.
One of Kymora’s favorite parts of being a Club member is the opportunity to do community service through Keystone Club. She loves making her community a better place and believes that everyone has the power to make change in their community. Her strong leadership skills make her a great role model for other Club kids. For Kymora, the Club is a family affair, her older brother is a Club kid and plays in one of the Club’s AAU basketball teams and her mother is part of the Boys & Girls Clubs staff.
Kymora believes that she can accomplish any goal she sets her mind to if she is determined and dedicated. She also believes in her own ability to change “Never let someone think you can’t change, what I mean is, do not let others hold past actions or behaviors against you. When I was younger, I had a short temper, a lot of attitude, and some would say I was even a bully. I have been working hard to change and focus more on laughing and being happy rather than being angry. I refuse to let people think I can’t change. Watch me!”
Kymora, will be competing in this year’s Junior Youth of the Year at her Club. Way to Be Great Kymora! The Boys & Girls Clubs are really a place to Become…
