- Members have access to educational software programs in the
computer learning center. The Computer Assisted Tutorial Program (CCC) utilizes integrated
computer learning stations, which provide participants with an individualized computer
assisted tutorial program. The program pre and post tests each participant and places each
on the proper grade level.
- Time is set aside each day for the Power Hour program, an
educational enrichment program that stresses educational enrichment activities, help with
homework, and tutoring. In a coordinated effort between tutors, teachers and parents,
individualized tutoring is also provided on a regularly scheduled basis. Twenty-six
members of the Dover Club recently improved at least two letter grades in school after
participating in the Club's Power Hour Program.
- Educational values are taught through games, projects, and
contests such as spelling bees.
- The Broader Horizons program educates youth about job
opportunities available to them, while enhancing their self-confidence.
Keystone Club
Members, 14 to 18 years of age, plan activities, take trips to regional and national Keystone Conferences around the country, and support the Club and community with special projects. Sign-up for this leadership program in the Teen Center. First project will be to explore various ways to raise funds for trips.
SMART Moves
SMART Moves provides and opportunity for teens to get together and openly discuss important topics. The program focuses on the four most serious issues facing young people today: alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and sexuality. This is a nationally recognized program providing teens a way to gain the insight needed to make wise life choices.
Teen Center
The Teen Center is a large area dedicated for our Club members, 12 to 19 years of age. The area is designed with a comfortable gathering and conversation area with a television. Teens can also utilize the exercise and fitness area, study area, computer equipment, pool table, and much more. The Teen Center is open daily from 3:30-9:30 p.m.
Education Center
The Education Center welcomes all members to another year of fun and learning! Homework help, reading, individual tutoring, computers and other educational activities are some of the opportunities offered to members. We look forward to seeing returning members and look forward to meeting new members.
Power Hour
Members are provided with a quiet area to complete homework and receive tutoring.
Our Education Director, staff, and volunteers are available for assistance. Computers, encyclopedias, and school supplies are
available.
Tutoring/Mentoring Programs
Members who participate in the tutoring/mentoring program, The Dream Team, must sign-up with the Club Education Director. Each member is assigned to a volunteer tutor/mentor. The member and his/her parent/guardian must do the following:
•Give the Education Director a copy of the most recent report card and a letter from
teacher(s) which clarifies personal education needs.
•Arrange a parent/member meeting with the Education Director to discuss goals and establish an educational enrichment plan for the student.
•All members on the waiting list for The Dream Team program will be given
a scheduled time to use the computer tutoring program - Success Maker.
