Oak Orchard Kids got a New Home
Boys & Girls Club Spread Its Wings to Include 200 More
Children

The Oak Orchard/Riverdale
Boys & Girls Club is pleased to open the doors of its new location at
the intersection of Route 24 and Route 5, behind the Nanticoke Indian
Museum. The Club's new address is 31550 Oak Orchard Road in
Millsboro, Delaware 19966.
The former Club, which was
housed in the Oak Orchard Community Church, limited the number of youth that
the Club could serve. Presently, more than 100 kids participate in the Club
programs. With the move to the new facility, the Club space
has more than
double, allowing the Club to serve more than 300 children annually and
provide additional programs.
The new 4,800 square feet one-story facility contains a large
activity area, a multipurpose room for a learning center complete with
computers, a shared snack and arts and crafts area, an administration area
with a small conference room and office, a residential-style kitchen,
bathrooms, and a fenced outdoor recreational area on the side of the
building. This
site is a state licensed child care site. In sync with all other
37 Boys &
Girls Clubs sites, this Club too offers vital youth development programs
including Power Hour (homework help), arts and crafts, education and fitness
and health sessions.
Over 50% of the new facility
construction costs were met through commitments from the state. The
remaining fundraising effort was a part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of
Delaware’s (BGCD) statewide capital campaign to raise $20 million to serve
more than 30,000 kids by the close of 2005. Each donation was matched 3-1
through gifts from the state and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware.

additional information, please call Millie Charnick, Unit Director of the
Oak Orchard / Riverdale Club, at (302) 945-2244.
