THE ‘OSCARS’, ‘EMMYS’ AND ‘GRAMMYS’
CAME TO DOVER
The Greater Dover Boys &
Girls Clubs’ Annual Celebrity Waiter Luncheon
The Greater Dover Boys &
Girls Clubs (GDBGC) hosted its 5th Annual Celebrity Luncheon,
under the guidance of Honorary Chairman, Lieutenant Governor, John C.
Carney, Jr. and Committee Chairman, Councilman Tim Slavin, on April 14 at
the Delaware State University. The theme for this year’s event was “Reach
For the Stars" and is encouraging the community to actively participate and
help 1,400 youth a year served at the GDBGC to ‘reach for the stars’.
Comcast graciously accepted to be the title sponsor at this year’s event.
Participants
enjoyed a silent as well as a live auction and a buffet lunch catered by
Jimmy’s Grill. While the buffet lunch is being served, local celebrities
such as media personalities, political leaders, and beauty queens waited on
the tables. Sponsorships of tables ranged from $250 to $1,000 and a few $25
tickets were also sold. The
proceeds from the event will support youth development, education, health
and sports programs at the five Greater Dover Boys & Girls Club sites. Last
year's Celebrity Luncheon hosted 300 attendees who contributed generously
